Frank Lloyd Wright® is widely regarded as the 20th century’s greatest architect. Indeed, the American Institute of Architects in a recent national survey, recognized Frank Lloyd Wright to be “the greatest American architect of all time.” We invite you to learn more about the heritage of Frank Lloyd Wright in his home state of Wisconsin. We further hope you will visit the many public Wright buildings in Wisconsin for an intimate look at his life and work.

Wright and Like 2007: Prairie on the Lakes - Saturday June 9th

Penwern

Frank Lloyd Wright's cluster of summer homes and estates around Delavan Lake are the focus of the 2007 Wright and Like architecture tour scheduled for Saturday June 9th. Sponsored by Frank Lloyd Wright® Wisconsin, this year’s Wright and Like 2007: Prairie on the Lakes will feature interior and exterior tours of significant structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and other architects who were his contemporaries or influenced by Mr. Wright.

Rarely open to the public and seldom available for tours, five of the eight original Frank Lloyd Wright structures will be featured including Penwern, the Fred B. Jones Estate (1901-1903), the largest of the Delavan projects. One of the highlights is its historic boathouse, recently restored.

Save America's Treasures Grant Supports Wright Restoration

Milwaukee, December 8, 2006 -- A rare affordable house on Milwaukee's south side, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1915, has been selected as one of 42 projects nationally for a Save America's Treasures award this year. The dollar-for-dollar matching grant is for $150,000 and will be used to restore the house to its original 1915 appearance; the project is estimated to cost about $370,000. The Frank Lloyd Wright Wisconsin Heritage Tourism Program, which owns the dwelling, must raise the matching funds from non-federal sources.
